Men's Soccer Moves In to Top Five

The ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College men's soccer team has moved into the top five of the newest NJCAA Division III poll.  The Pioneers are currently ranked #5 after starting the season with a 5-2 (5-1 in Region III Division III play) mark.

ASC was ranked #13 in last week's poll but registered victories over previously ranked #12 Finger Lakes CC, 3-2, and Jefferson CC 5-0.  Yesterday, the Pioneers battled NJCAA Division I Bryant & Stratton tough before falling 1-0 in overtime.

Other Region III competition in the poll include: #3 Hudson Valley CC (4-0), #7 Genesee CC (4-1), #8 Finger Lakes CC (7-1), and #14 Mohawk Valley CC (4-1).

The Pioneers offense has been led by Caleb Drake's (Jasper Troupsburg) nine points, four goals & one assist.  Jason Durst (Gates Chili) has netted four goals while Kyle Binder (Hornell) has three goals.

On defense, Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) is 4-1 with a 1.65 goals against average.  He has got solid play in front of him from Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan) and Matt Owlett (Alfred Almond).

±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï hosts Corning CC on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they look to build on their early season success.
