The ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College men's basketball team climbed over .500 for the first time during the 2008-09 season with a 101-83 victory over Ithaca College JV on Thursday evening. The Pioneers head into this weekend's ASC Tournament with a 5-4 overall mark.
Terrell Williams (Rochester/Marshall) led ASC with 24 points while Neil Wilson (Fort Worth, TX) finished with 20. Dan Foley (Irondequoit) added 17 points and Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) chipped in 15. ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï was 18 for 20 from the foul line on the contest.
The Pioneers led 54-52 after a wild first half that featured 11 three-pointers made by the JV Bombers. ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï stepped up the defense and held Ithaca to just 31 points in the second half (3 three-pointers).
±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï takes on Jefferson CC on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the ASC Tournament. The contest follows the Dean College and Rockland CC contest scheduled for 5 p.m.
