The ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College softball team hung tough with the three-time NJCAA Division III champs, Monroe CC, but fell in both halves of a doubleheader on Tuesday. MCC won by scores of 9-0 and 8-1.
MCC used a five run 5th inning to break open game one. MCC's Lindsey Grace tossed a five inning one-hitter. She walked one and struck out seven. Jess Herbst (Naples) collected the lone hit of the contest.
In game two, the Pioneers trailed 4-1 heading into the 4th inning but couldn't muster any more runs while the Lady Tribunes capitalized and added to their lead with a single run in the 4th, two in the 6th, and one in the 7th. Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) drove home the lone ASC run with an RBI single.
±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï falls to 11-14 (8-6 Region III Division III) while Monroe CC, ranked #3 in the latest NJCAA poll, improves to 21-9. The Lady Pioneers travel to Jamestown CC on Thursday for a scheduled 3 p.m. doubleheader.
