The ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College softball team saw leads in the 7th inning slip away in both halves of a WNYAC doubleheader with Erie CC. The Lady Kats earned 8-7 (eight innings) and 6-4 victories.
In the opener, ECC jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Lady Pioneers scored seven in the 5th to take the lead. The Kats evened the game up with a run in the 7th and won the game with a run in the 8th.
Katie Marlowe (Franklin Academy) was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI while Katherine McCarthy (Orchard Park) was 2 for 3 with a double. Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) allowed just two earned runs while striking out eight on the mound.
In the nightcap, ASC led 4-1 heading into the 6th but Erie scored twice in the 6th and three times in the 7th to rally for the victory.
Theleman was 3 for 3 in the game while McCarthy was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Jessica Herbst (Naples) was the hard luck loser on the mound. She allowed just one earned run in seven innings. She walked five and struck out four.
±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï falls to 12-17 overall and 9-8 in Region III Division III play. The Lady Pioneers host Tompkins Cortland CC on Sunday for another RIII DIII doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
