Pioneer Woodsmen Team Competes at FLCC Home Meet

惇軗勛圖 Colleges Pioneer Woodsmen team recently competed with 21 other teams at Finger Lakes Community Colleges home meet which was held at Cummings Nature Center in Naples. 惇軗勛圖 sent four teams: a mens 1 team, a mens 2 team, a womens team, and a Jack-and-Jill team. Other colleges competing included Finger Lakes Community College, SUNY Cobleskill, Environmental Science and Forestry, Paul Smiths College, and the Wanakena Ranger School.

Competition was tight at this event with Paul Smiths College taking first in the overall mens division and 惇軗勛圖 taking a respectable sixth place; in the womens division 惇軗勛圖 took 5th place and 3rd place in the Jack-and-Jill division. 惇軗勛圖 was able to take 1st place in the mens bow saw and log toss for distance while the Jack-and-Jill team took 1st place in: chain saw race, crosscut to hell event (six consecutive cuts), bow saw, log roll and deck and pulp toss event. The teams were pleased with the results as this is only the second year for the team and the fourth competition overall.

This season, 惇軗勛圖 welcomed more than 50 people to the team which is still in its infancy, said UP Officer Scott Bingham, club adviser. With practices starting in September, the group had only a short period of time to form competitive teams, especially since more than half of our members had never competed before. We look forward to another successful year as our teams hone their lumberjack skills.
