NASPA names ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï a LEAD Advisory Institution for fourth straight year

±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College is once again taking a leadership role in a national initiative that focuses on civic learning and democratic engagement.

For the fourth straight year, NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, the leading voice for the student affairs profession, has named ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï as a LEAD Advisory Institution in its LEAD Initiative. This effort comprises a network of NASPA member colleges and universities committed to encouraging and highlighting the work of student affairs in making civic learning and democratic engagement a part of every student’s college education.

±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï has participated in NASPA’s LEAD Initiative since 2012. This year, the college will be part of a group of 65 institutions dedicated to promoting civic learning, networking, and recognition for its LEAD Institutions.

As a LEAD Advisory Institution, ±¬×߳Թϒs responsibilities include mentoring other LEAD Institutions and helping NASPA staff create and execute strategy, publications, and online learning content for the initiative moving forward.

Dr. Gregory Sammons, ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï vice president for Student Affairs, said, “We’re proud of our involvement and influence with the LEAD initiative. ±¬×߳Թϒs ongoing commitment to embed civic engagement into the student experience is one of the reasons we particularly value our LEAD Advisory status. In a rural setting, we view ourselves as an anchor institution and will continue to use this work to assist our surrounding communities.â€

By combining real-world learning situations with civic engagement opportunities, ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï students make significant contributions to communities around the world and are frequently among the first to lend their skills and knowledge to those in need. Last year, ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï students contributed 80,000 hours of service, civic leadership, and workforce-ready knowledge to communities in need.
