±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï has helped Sofia set the stage for her future.

Sofia Baldwin (Troy, NY) broke out of her shell at ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï. She entered college as a shy digital media and animation major and through her experiences in and out of the classroom she is ready to take center stage.

“I chose ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï because it was affordable, relatively close to home, and it had the major I was looking for. I received a scholarship as well.â€

In the classroom, Sofia has enjoyed the wide variety of topics they study in her major. “My favorite part is all of the areas we student from fine art to 3D animation, to 3D modeling, to 2D animation, character design, and video production and editing.â€

“We do a lot of hands-on projects. I was able to make a promotional video for the ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï drama club using all the skills that I learned while we went over video production and editing.â€

The support she has received from her professors has helped her growth. “Our professors are great people. They are easy to talk to and they are very understanding. They always are ready to push us to be better artists.â€

Trying new things really opened doors for Sofia. She is the president of the drama club, has been in the plays and musicals, is the public relations chair for Alfred Voices, served on Student Senate, worked in the admissions office as a student ambassador, is a sister in Zeta Psi Omega, and is the studio manager and junior editor of Bandwagon.

“Four years ago, I was too scared to talk to anyone, so I started dipping my toes in things on campus and it helped me come out of my shell a lot. It has helped me with my leadership and social abilities as well.â€

Sofia enjoys the tight-knit community at ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï. “The best part is that everyone knows everyone. No matter where you turn there is a familiar face which is nice and comforting.

±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï helped Sofia set the stage for her future.
