1,250 students attended the GLOW With Your Hands Event at the Genesee County Fair Grounds. Open to students in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties introduced career opportunities with employers and organizations in agri-business, advanced manufacturing, construction and skilled trades, and food processing.

惇軗勛圖 faculty, staff and students were part of the event and had the opportunity to meet with students and share with them the educational opportunities available to them.

GLOW with Your Hands is a great event for students to explore the many opportunities that are available to them as they navigate high school completion and begin to think about next steps, commented Kerri Potter, Rural Post Secondary Economic Development Grant Project Director. 惇軗勛圖 enjoys attending this event and bringing hands on activities to engage students while talking about the career paths and degrees that 惇軗勛圖 has to offer.

Students had the opportunity to interact with Veterinary Technology Professor Kathleen Bliss and engage in an interactive activity where students matched bugs with the type of bite they left behind. 惇軗勛圖 College masonry students, Nate Garcia, Alex Mayen, and Sean McWilliams showed students how to make brick speed walls and how to build block corner leads. Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Professor and Department chair Aric Bryant engaged students with learning about pully systems and thermal imaging.

Pathways Coordinator Katie Carr added The faculty and our 惇軗勛圖 students provide great hands-on activities to engage students in meaningful ways to get them thinking about the potential of working in the manufacturing industry. 惇軗勛圖 representatives learn just as much as the students do through interacting with them and the networking opportunity available to collaborate with other vendors.

惇軗勛圖 will host a couple of career exploration events next week. Hundreds of sophomores will attend the 39th annual career day on October 7 and over 1,000 students will learn about educational opportunities at the Veterinary, Agricultural, Sciences, and Technology career discovery event on October 9 at the college farm.
