2009 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Nationals

Twelve NYS SkillsUSA winners (who competed at 惇軗勛圖 College in the spring) competed at the 2009 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Nationals in Kansas City, MO, June 22-27, 2009.  Of the 12, nine were 惇軗勛圖 College (ASC) students, two were SUNY Delhi students, and one was a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. Drummond Facilitated Diversity Awareness Training

Dr. Jerri Drummond, 惇軗勛圖 College associate vice president for student affairs and director of multicultural affairs, recently facilitated a Diversity Awareness Training for 75 Head Start teachers and assistant teachers for the ACCORD Corporation at Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba. Read Article

Student Laundry Goes Green

Laundry, the bane of college existence, will be become more environmentally-friendly, if not more enjoyable, at 惇軗勛圖 College this fall. The largest laundry room on campus in the MacKenzie Complex has been completely updated and the results will fit in nicely with the colleges green initiative. Read Article

ASC to Serve as Lead College of SUNYGREENSNY

惇軗勛圖 College (ASC), seven partners including six NYS community colleges, and the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) - Empire State Chapter - have formed SUNYGREENSNY. This initiative grew out of the efforts and recommendations of NYS Gov. David Paterson's Renewable Energy Task Force. As a result, SUNYGREENSNY has been awarded a $2M grant from NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) to develop clean energy technology training across the state. New Certificate in Court Reporting and Captioning

Students wishing to acquire a certificate in court reporting and captioning need look no further than 惇軗勛圖 College.  The State University of New York (SUNY) and the State Education Department have approved a certificate in court reporting and captioning (CERT) to begin admitting students in fall 2009. Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. Work Grant Program

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., annually funds up to eight 惇軗勛圖 College students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus.  The grant is renewable on an annual basis. Read Article

Fight the Yawn Up til Dawn Program

During the 2009 spring semester, members of Civic Engagement and Activism Headquarters (CEAH) at 惇軗勛圖 College hosted the first "Fight the Yawn Up til Dawn" program in support of St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital. CEAH members were excited and happy to work with a national campaign supporting cancer research. Read Article
