ASC to host Farm Safety Education Event

±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï in partnership with the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) will be hosting a Farm Safety Education Event, Tuesday, Oct. 14 and Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Sarah Welsh from the NYCAMH) will speak with ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï's Farm Practicum I class and any interested farmers and guests about pinch points, tractor rollover, PTO hazards, manure pit safety, and other farm specific risks and prevention strategies.

The ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï English and Humanities department hosted a joint conference with the New York College Education Association (NYCEA) and the Pennsylvania College English Association (PCEA). Fifty attendees representing twenty different institutions in New York, Pennsylvania, and as far away as France and Italy attended the two-day conference entitled “Texts at Work, Labor in the Liberal Arts.â€

1,250 students attended the GLOW With Your Hands Event at the Genesee County Fair Grounds. Open to students in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties introduced career opportunities with employers and organizations in agri-business, advanced manufacturing, construction and skilled trades, and food processing.

Students at ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College (ASC), especially those living in the Main Gate residence halls, have a new place to watch their favorite teams, play video games, or enjoy their favorite shows and movies. The Hub was recently opened in Main Gate B.

The Hub features three televisions, cozy chairs, tabletop seating, a popcorn machine, and a coffee maker. The walls of the renovated lounge are filled with ASC intercollegiate and club sport jerseys along with the original Big Blue jersey.

Alfred Open continues to raise funds for scholarships

Twenty teams competed at the 5th annual ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï Open organized by the Class of 1978 and the Buffalo Alumni Chapter at the Springville Country Club. The team of Kert King, ’82, Dave Bellso, ’78, Tim Young, ’78, and Dick Young took home the team honors with a score of 60.

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of ±¬×ß³Ô¹Ï College (ASC), recently added Molly Cole, Erica Matteson, and Michael Ronan to their board. Cole, ’20, a Registered Representative and Owner of Gem Wealth Planning Group, LLC, will serve on the public relations and scholarship committees.
